As many of you are aware, there have been four recent attacks on women in North Seattle. Police are unsure if they are related or not, but three of the victim’s descriptions of the suspects are similar. We have been putting up Warning Fliers which include a police sketch of one of the descriptions, a map where each of the attacks occurred, AND safety tips given by the Seattle Police Department.

The Rain City Superhero Movement put up/passed out roughly a 1000 fliers and The Purple Reign Campaign organized an event to put up a few thousand more on February 16th, with the help of the Action Team and community.

We can keep our loved ones safer by making them aware of the attacks and offering safety tips. And most importantly, hopefully someone will recognize the sketch and notify the police. The Purple Reign Campaign, The Action Team, & The Rain City Superhero Movement are taking a stand against sexual predators, help us send a message that our entire city is on the lookout.

**If you do happen to see someone you suspect matches the description, call 911 and DO NOT intervene yourself. As much as we despise sexual predators, we will never act outside the law in our pursuit against them. We are not vigilantes, we choose to work with the police and within the confines of the law during all of our patrols and outreach events.**

Around 2am on Sunday morning, gun shots rang out leaving a woman laying on the sidewalk with at least one gun shot wound on her neck near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Yesler Way in Pioneer Square – the status of the woman is currently unknown.

The gun shots were heard near the 11:20 mark on video recorded by Seattle Superhero Phoenix Jones who was standing near the scene; Jones had 9-1-1 called immediately.

Video shows Phoenix Jones leading a foot chase through Pioneer Square after the suspected shooter before a Seattle Police Officer told him to stop so they could get back up.

“I’m very sorry that we didn’t catch the suspect, but at moments like that we follow orders from the Seattle Police.” – Phoenix Jones

Also shown in the video is the chaotic scene and Phoenix Jones’ description of what happened that night. Out of respect for the victim, Phoenix Jones did not include up-close video footage of the woman, only the scene.

Phoenix Jones caught the only video of the scene and his video is currently being used by the Seattle Police Department as part of their investigation.

This shooting comes days after I raised the question, “Is Pioneer Square the new Belltown?” after a video showed three incidents occur in 10 minutes in Pioneer Square.

Nicole Westbrook later died of her injuries suspect still at large.

I Won’t Remain Silent

Cold, much colder than I remember last year being. It’s not just the temperature, their used to be a warmth that came from the people here. I love this city but it’s dying, giving into the criminals. Politicians are too afraid of change-worried about re-election. The people’s cries fall on deaf ears.

“We are not going to arrest our way out of this problem.” – Mayor Mike Mcginn.

No we won’t; not with your loose policies on drugs and district attorney Holmes cutting everyone deals. Small businesses are hurting because parking meters are running till 8 o’clock. The police are given orders to let rioters destroy buildings and there have been more shootings then I care to count. Not sure what I can do… But I won’t remain silent. When I put on this uniform I knew things would change. Now I feel this city needs me to wear a separate mask during the day. Something that is incorruptible, something that stands up to these weak men in charge. Phoenix Jones challenges criminals on their turf maybe its time I challenge politicians on theirs.

On December 19th, 2012 Phoenix, Purple, RCSM and the Action Team distributed ponchos, socks, gloves and other survival supplies to the homeless of Seattle.

Help Me Call the Police on the Police

RAINING OUTSIDE. STANDING IN A BUSINESSES DOORWAY PUTTING THE FINAL TOUCHES ON MY UNIFORM.”FUCK YOU IF YOU WANNA BE LIKE THAT, I’LL JUST GO GET MY GUN.”

“NO FUCK YOU AND I ALREADY HAVE MINE.”

I OVERHEAR THESE WORDS, REACT AND START TO MOVE TOWARD THE SUSPECTS. AS I GET CLOSER I AM OVERPOWERED BY A FUNNY FEELING IN MY STOMACH, SO I STOP. ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT…SAVED MY LIFE MORE THAN ONCE.

I DIP OUT OF SIGHT BEHIND A BUSH, KEEPING MY EYES ON THE SUSPECT.

“911 – WHAT IS YOUR EMERGENCY?”

I START TO EXPLAIN BUT BEFORE I CAN GET OUT A FULL SENTENCE, SEATTLE POLICE RANDOMLY DRIVE BY AND SEE THE GUY WITH HIS HANDS IN HIS POCKETS.THE OFFICER POPS OUT OF THE CAR AND ASKS TO SEE HIS HANDS. THE MAN DOES NOT COMPLY AND STARTS MAKING HIS WAY TOWARD THE OFFICER. THE OFFICER PLACES HIS HAND ON HIS OWN GUN AND REPEATS THE COMMAND.

“SHOW ME YOUR HANDS!”
AT THIS POINT THE MAN THROWS BOTH HANDS UP AS IF TO SAY THIS IS RIDICULOUS. HE TURNS HIS BACK TO THE OFFICER AND STARTS CAUSALLY WALKING AWAY FROM THE COP. THE OFFICER NOW KNOWS HE IS NOT ARMED AND PROCEEDS TO TALK TO HIM. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TALK THE MAN BECOMES ANGRY AND STARTS TO FIGHT WITH THE OFFICER.

AS I WATCH THEM WRESTLE I WANT TO HELP BUT AM NOT SURE IF I AM NEEDED. THE WRESTLING CONTINUES SO I YELL OUT, “DO YOU NEED ASSISTANCE?!” AT THAT EXACT MOMENT THE BAD GUY LOOKS AT ME AND SAYS “PHOENIX, HELP ME CALL THE POLICE!” I AM PUZZLED BY HIS CLEAR LACK OF UNDERSTANDING. BACK UP OFFICERS ARRIVE. I HANG UP WITH 911 AND BEGIN RECORDING.

THE REST IS ON THIS VIDEO (I have been critical of the Seattle Police Department before but in this situation it was refreshing how much restrain and composure was shown by the officers. Force was used and submission holds were applied but all of it was necessary and completely justified.)
